This is an algebraic expressions game in which students play in pairs similar to the game war. Students are expected to shuffle the cards and lay them face down. One partner takes their turn choosing a card and reading it to their partner. It is the partner's job to listen to the word problem and state the algebraic expression that matches the wording. If they get it correct, they get a point. If not, the card is discarded and it is the other partner's turn. The answers to the word problems are included at the bottom of each card so that each partner can determine if their partner answered correctly. This can also be modified to be used as a worksheet for guided or independent practice. In addition, it can also be used as a matching activity or type of assessment. Please enjoy!
