Students often have to find the word problem to match a given equation, but they don't usually practice regulary. This product is a fun way for students to find word problems that match up to given equations. Students have to think of what operation (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) the word problem is describing, then decide where the unknown (variable) would be, and determine where the known numbers would go. There are 2 worksheets and 2 answer keys. Students can work independently or in groups/pairs. You can extend the activity and have students solve to find the value of the variable. Additionally as an extension activity, you can have students create their own equation and write 1 word problem to match it and 3 that do not match the equation.
