Get your students thinking in new ways about words and patterns with these fun, no-prep lateral thinking puzzles. They are great bellringers, perfect for teachers who are looking for activities that are unusual and ready to go!

Aliens from Saturn have crash-landed at your school. It's up to your students to make them feel welcome here on Earth by identifying patterns in a series of words and determining what each alien likes and dislikes.

This collection contains colorful activity pages that can be displayed on a smartboard or overhead projector so the entire class can solve them together! Answers are included at the end of the resource.

Alien Welcome Team: Neptune is just one in a series of resources - check out all our Alien Welcome Team puzzles.
Neptune is the most difficult,
Saturn is in the middle,
Mars is the least difficult.

Students can have fun without being aware of the difficulty level.
Fully Editable and No-Prep

Alien Welcome Team: Saturn is fully editable. All fonts used in this collection of puzzles are linked and are freely available to you, so you can download them and use them in your edits. Everything we create is no-prep and ready to go!

Why Choose Alien Welcome Team: Saturn for Your Students

Keep your students engaged and thinking creatively! These 'lateral thinking' bell ringers are perfect for those last few minutes of class time, or for starting the class period with some unusual verbal challenges. Perfect for busy teachers!

This resource contains four puzzles that will help your students think both analytically and creatively as they try to figure out the rule that determines what each alien likes or doesn't like. You can display them for the entire class on a smart board or overhead projector; split your students into pairs or small groups to work on together; or print these out as individual worksheets for your early finishers. These puzzles are great for generating discussion and debate, so they work just as well for a group activity as for an individual.

Included in Alien Welcome Team: Saturn

Alien Welcome Team #1: Jamfekic only likes words that only contain letters from the first half of the alphabet.
Alien Welcome Team #2: Abloruz only likes words that have all letters in alphabetical order.
Alien Welcome Team #3: Piakidi only likes words that have the same 2nd and 5th letters.
Alien Welcome Team #4: Qophu only likes words that have a prime number of letters.

Format Included

This is the color version of this resource, which is designed for use with an overhead projector or smart board, or to print and laminate for repeated use. If you want easy-to-print individual worksheets, please check out our black and white version, or the bundle that includes both versions.

Who is Puzzlemonster?

We are a husband and wife team of puzzle nerds and game developers - not teachers, but puzzle and game specialists. All of our puzzles are tested in real life before we launch them on TpT. We not only test for accuracy, we also test for solvability, fun, and that "x factor" that makes a puzzle into an enhanced gamelike experience.

Eric has invented puzzles his entire life and has a fun website dedicated to puzzles and puzzle games. He has shared his best puzzles only by email in recent years. Eric has a degree in English, an advanced degree in Artificial Intelligence, and is an Application Developer / Data Analyst for a school district in Oregon.

Friday is a maker-developer and helps bring Eric's puzzles to the world outside of his email list of puzzle nerds and writes stuff like what you are reading now. You can find her in the TpT forums and on social media - visit with her (me) on Twitter!
