Mini-lab designed for students to see if the effect of physical and chemical properties of different substance can be used to determine the identity of an unknown substance?. The lab uses basic supplies sugar, salt, cornstarch, baking soda, water, and vinegar. Students observe the physical and chemical properties of some of the substances to determine if they can figue out what their mystery substance. As the teacher, you need to choose one of the substances and put it into the mystery cup. This activity reviews qualitiative observations, writing a correct hypothesis, and identifying independent and dependent variables.
