Friends~You are going to LOVE this unit. It is filled with 75 pages of fantastic apple activities. The lesson bring in some great books like Apples by Gail Gibbons, How Apples Grow by Betsy Maestro & I Am an Apple by Jean Marzollo. You students will work through an apple KWL, Apple Facts Sheet, Apple Anticipation Guide, and a writing response sheet. There are 18 vocabulary cards and an apple bubble map for recording facts from a story.
Students will create their own apple life cycle using pre made pieces while tying it to I Am and Apple.
Your students will learn about Johnny Appleseed from a fact sheet and the book Johnny Appleseed My Story. Students will write letters to Johnny and you will surprise them with a bag of apple seeds and a fun poem from Johnny himself. This also a character bubble map and response questions for the story.
You students will also listen to the story of The Little Red House. The story tells of how the apple holds a star inside. You will receive story cards to tell the story with. It is a great time to do apple print t shirts with the star slices!
You will also read It's Apple Picking Time and use the purple tickets provided just like in the story for a great behavior MGT activity during the day. You will find response questions, bubble map, visualization, and a double entry journal. There is also an opinion writing piece.
You will end your apple study with some fun Apple Day Centers. This packet will provide you with directions for collecting supplies including a parent letter and center icon cards. Included is the directions for making crock pot applesauce. (BEWARE your room will smell delicious!)

Included is a 5 page Apple Glyph Activity-it comes with directions for adding to an apple template and a worm cutout. Your students will also create a tally sheet from touring the apples when finished and completing an apple data sheet. These make an adorable hallway display!
