This is one of my favorite activities to use throughout the year. It's a very versatile activity and can be used in a variety of ways. I have used it to teach my students how to make inferences, as well as a tool for build background knowledge before reading. It also fits in fabulously at the beginning of the year as a getting to know you activity or as a tie in about class diversity. The activity was such a hit with my third graders, that I also used it during my unit on Famous Americans and Explorers Unit.
This package includes a description of the activity, examples, a list of variations, a picture, and a grading rubric. The description can be printed and sent home to parents, if you opt to do this as a "take home project."
