"All About Bullying" was created for high school students with disabilities such as intellectual disability and autism. The focus of the presentation is to teach students with disabilities what bullying is. Included are examples of various kinds of bullying, examples of what is not bullying, who a bully might be, the right to feel safe, how bullying makes you feel, the importance of reporting bullying, identifying trusted adults, what happens after you report a bully, and finding a buddy for support.
The presentation is written in simplistic, concrete language to ensure comprehension. It includes a short movie and many images and animation to support comprehension. The presentation asks students questions and includes a role-play activity. It is ideal to do a little each day, reviewing what was learned the previous days. The presentation would be most affective shown on a Smart Board but can also be presented 1:1 on a computer or tablet.
I teach older teens and young adults with disabilities. I create my own materials because I find it difficult to find age appropriate materials for students who read and comprehend at a low level.
