This 47-page social studies mini-book was created to help teach students all about communities.
It covers the following topics: what is a community, who lives in a community, kinds of communities (urban, suburban, rural), community helpers, and the school community.
Community helpers included in this book: police officers, firefighters, school workers, hospital workers, post officers, garbage collectors, veterinarians, dental workers, construction workers, shop keepers, librarians, food service workers, and students.
Worksheets allow children to match community helpers to their tools and work places, compare & contrast the different types of communities, draw maps of the various communities they live in, draw and write about themselves as a community helper, etc.
The booklet contains a glossary of important terms and 5 types of activities (cut-and-paste picture sorting, matching, map-drawing, writing prompts, and drawing) for students to complete to demonstrate understanding.
The document is in a half-page format (two to a page) to save paper and make copying class sets quicker and easier. Pages are also numbered for easier browsing. Enjoy! =)
