For students who struggle with more complex language, this first in a series, is a high-interest non-fiction package about giraffes! This 19-page booklet is in full colour, and includes information on habitat, reproduction, behavior, populations, appearance, diet and Did You Know? sections.
Comprehension questions include Finding the Main Idea, Recalling Facts, Making Inferences, Choosing the Meaning of the Word and Writing About What I've Learned About. The first 4 sections are all multiple choice (great for those who don't like writing but have a lot to say and offer about the topic!). The writing section offers a vocabulary word box, sentence starters, and a writing rubric. The rubric is stated in the first person so that students can take ownership of their writing.
Each section is valued at 10 to 25 points for a total of 100, making it easier for tutors and teachers to keep track of marks. Answer Key included.
