This lesson is an exploration of career pathways. It is intended to spark conversation in the middle level to setting learning goals to achieve future goals. Many times students need to see the steps to get to their future to support the engagement in the current learning. This lesson is great for students who struggle with learning, as it helps make connections with school now to future goals. It is also great for students with high achieving future goals to visualize where they want to be and how to get there.

Lesson Guide: On the left of the lesson guide, it includes the lesson objective, lesson materials, and things to consider when preparing for the lesson. On the right of the lesson plan, there are step by step directions for leading the lesson.
Lesson Handouts: The lesson includes a career inventory, 2-page research scavenger hunt on chosen career, and business letter assignment to a business in a related career. The business letter assignment includes a rubric/assignment sheet, and two levels of graphic organizers, one containing a sentence starters and one containing paragraph organization supports.
Pacing: The lesson is designed to take 1-2 weeks depending on the length of time given for research and for the writing process.
Grade Level: This unit is designed with middle level students in mind, however, I am sure it can be adapted for high school students working on a career pathway.
