Most of my preschoolers are nonverbal or minimally verbal. In
addition, some of my students are verbal, but are lacking the language skills
needed to answer questions without pictures. The back to school activities I
usually see require the student to respond verbally and without pictures to complete the activity. I wanted to make an activity that would allow you to use pictures to help the child communicate. I also wanted an activity that was short and sweet. Use your professional judgement for the amount of prompting needed. If you need to narrow down the choices further, put a piece of a post-it note on top of some of the pictures to block them out. For children with more advanced skills, there is also a blank option for the opportunity to include a choice that is not included from the options shown.
*This activity requires a color printer.
*Cut out each portion. Staple the pages to the cover page to create a booklet.
*Use a crayon or pencil to circle the student’s choice on each page
