Product Description
The 10th common core standard in writing is categorized as: Range of Writing. The common core standard reads:

10. Write routinely over extended time frames (time for research, reflection, and revision) and shorter time frames (a single sitting or a day or two) for a range of tasks, purposes, and audiences.

Therefore, a “common” writing task often is “autobiographies”. Writers are more successful when they write about a topic they know well, especially if it is about themselves.
With that said, this activity packet combines this purposeful writing task together with our reading “genre”.

This packet includes both a color and a black and white worksheet for the following genre interests: sports, drama/art, thriller, music, and science fiction. Here's how to get the best use:

WHO: Students of any age may use these autobiography sheets.

WHAT: They are to select the “genre” they prefer. Then they are to write about themselves, following the headings. In the blanks, they are to add their choice of photos or they may illustrate and color or they may do both. {Note: If they choose the “black/white” sheet,
encourage them to color it all in.

WHEN: This packet is great to use at the BEGINNING of the school year, in the MIDDLE of the school year, at the END of the school year, and even during the SUMMER. In other words, ANY TIME !

WHY: As with reading, written expression is a powerful tool—and a necessary one. As far as students are concerned, if it’s a fun, non-threatening assignment (i.e. something about
themselves) then they are more apt to do it with better effort and thought. :)
