This form is a great way for you to get to know more about your students. It can be used at the beginning of the year, or as a refresher later in the year, perhaps once more students have joined the class. One way to use this form would be to give students time to write their paragraphs independently, then share what they wrote in small groups. This gives students the opportunity to get to know each other. One strategy would be for students to share using the inside/outside circle method. Have the students count off (one, two, one, two, etc.). Then have the ones stand on the perimeter of the carpet. Next, the twos line up across from a one. After they have time to share, have the students on the outside (the twos) rotate and the inside circle (the ones) stay in the same spot.
