This rubric serves as a tool to teach elementary school children how to effectively evaluate their classmates' essays and how to use their peers' specific feedback to revise their own work. In my classroom, I began by using this rubric to model how to grade one to two student essays. After the students understood what to look for in each item on the rubric, my students worked in pairs to grade one another's essays. This rubric includes a section for content, as well as for grammar, with specific point values for each item, and space for positive, specific feedback. If you find this rubric helpful, look for an "All About Me" rubric for you as the teacher to use while grading.
