All About Me Time Capsule is the perfect way to begin and end the school year. On the first day of school, have your students complete the “Beginning of Year” column. When everyone is done, let volunteer students share their answers for each “Favorite.” Then, collect the Time Capsules, and keep them all year. If you have new students enter your class in the middle of the school year, be sure to have them complete a Time Capsule on the day they enter. You don’t want any of your students left out on the last day of school. Before returning the papers to the students on the last day of school, fold them in the middle, so your students cannot see the “Beginning of Year” column. Ask them not to peak at this column until they have completed the “End of Year” column. Once done, they can unfold their papers and compare their answers. My students love seeing how much they have changed (or stayed the same) in one school year!
FYI - I copy this activity and my Find a Classmate activity back to back on one sheet of paper. They are the perfect combination for the first day of school. My kids love them both! It starts the school year out with fun and sharing!
