These pages are a great addition to your pumpkin unit and pumpkin life cycle.
Words To Know: The cards have the words and pictures for each stage of the pumpkin life cycle. You can use these on a word wall, writing center, or any place where your class works on words.
Pocket Chart Cards: These small square cards are the perfect size for a pocket chart. Students can put the cards in order along with the arrow cards to display the pumpkin life cycle.
Mini-Books: These books are great for reading or writing about the pumpkin life cycle. There are 2 options available: one with words to read and one with blank lines for the students to write. Both options have the same graphics.
K-W-L Chart: This a great way for students to measure their learning.
Life Cycle Cut and Paste- This activity has the cycle with pictures and then the students cut and paste the labels of each stage.
Describing Using Your 5 Senses: This page is a diagram where students use describing words, using their 5 senses, to describe pumpkin seeds.
Show What You Know About Pumpkin Seeds: Students fill in the sections for- what pumpkin seeds look like, words to describe them, why they are important and a class graph to show who like and dislikes the seeds.
Alphabetical Order- Pumpkin life cycle words to put in ABC order. The students write the words.
Life Cycle Craftivity- Students cut out the 7 squares (6 stages plus a title square) and glue them on a strip. A strip made with a large sheet of construction paper, cut in half and glued end to end, works great for this lesson. Then the students glue sentences to match each stage.
Color By Number- Just a fun additional page to use how you wish. Rainy day recess anyone?
Sentence Builders- This is a great way to extend the pumpkin unit into reading and writing and build fluency. There are 7 non-fiction sentences, each sentence is 8 words. Students use the cards to build a sentence and record it either in a booklet or a single page. Best of all, you can tell the sentence cards apart because they are all numbered and have a unique graphic for each sentence.
