Bell Ringer Topics: Phrases, Clauses, Sentences, Sentence Problems, Subjects and Predicates, Simple, Compound, Complex, and Compound-Complex Sentences. These lessons are everything you need to teach Common Core Standard 7.1a and 7.1b and parts of 7.1c. These lessons can also be used to teach and review sentence problems and sentence variety at any middle school level.
Included: 23 short daily lessons with activities, 4 review quizzes, a students note page with the terms and definitions, and an answer guide. The sentences I wrote for most of the bell ringers are on science and social studies topics, not just random sentences. This way students can learn something while they practice their grammar. This is how I use it - I print off the bell ringer and use a document camera to project it. You could also project the page from your computer instead of printing. I read the lesson with the class and answer questions. Students then work on the practice problems in their notebooks while I go around checking progress and answering questions. Then I call on random students to give their answer to a problem so I can do a quick check for understanding.
