This unit is such a fun way to celebrate and learn about Thanksgiving in your classroom! Your primary students will love all of the engaging activities included in this resource!

These activities are perfect for grades 1-3, but can be adjusted for other grades as well!

This unit includes:
Activity 1: Thanksgiving Word Search – Search for 15 different Thanksgiving words!
Activity 2: Thanksgiving ABC Order – Put 15 Thanksgiving words in ABC order.
Activity 3: Thanksgiving Scramble – 10 Thanksgiving words are all mixed up! Unscramble them, and then draw a picture of your favorite one!
Activity 4: Thanksgiving Sentences – Students can write 10 different sentences using a word bank of 15 different Thanksgiving-themed words.
Activity 5: Thanksgiving Color, Cut, Read and Paste: Have students color the pictures, cut apart the sentences, read them, and glue them in the correct order.
Activity 6: My Thanksgiving Plate – Have students draw a picture of what they hope their Thanksgiving plate will look like. Then, write a description of what is on their plate.
Activity 7: Making Words with Thanksgiving – Students can try to see how many words they can make using the word “Thanksgiving”. They can use the letters on the bottom of the page to cut apart and build the words, or they can use the larger word cards while working with a partner, in groups, or at a Literacy Center
Activity 8: Writing Prompts - Have fun with three different writing prompts, differentiated for younger students with sentence starters and less lines.
Writing prompts include:
Giving Thanks (Students write about what they’re most thankful for).
Our Thanksgiving Traditions (Students write about their own family’s Thanksgiving traditions)
My Favorite Thanksgiving Food (Students write about their most favorite thing to eat at Thanksgiving, and draw a picture)
A Note of Thanks (Students write a friendly letter to someone to thank them.
Activity 9: Thanksgiving ABC Order Activity – Students can use the Thanksgiving picture cards to put the words in ABC order. Then, they can record their answers on the accompanying recording sheet.
Activity 10: Thanksgiving Memory Match – Students can work in pairs to match Thanksgiving picture cards to the matching vocabulary word.
