Hello! Thank you for visiting my "Math Is Not Daunting" store!
This is a simple project for which students will have the opportunity to describe three properties in their own words along with provide examples for each property. My third grade students really enjoyed describing each property and then adding colors to brighten their projects. You may edit the project in any way that you would like as it is attached as a Word document.
To complete the project, students need to be able to show how to apply the commutative, associative, and distributive properties. Therefore, this project correlates with 3.OA.5, which is, as stated on the "corestandards" site: "Apply properties of operations as strategies to multiply and divide." While the footnote for this standard does state "Students need not use formal terms for these properties," I did feel the need for my students to be able to know the terms for these properties so that they would be better able to recognize when those properties could be applied.
Thank you for your time!
