Such a fun and interactive way to learn All About Trees with fabulous Art integration! This unit is part of the Trees and Forests Unit or All about Trees!
Students will learn all about the parts of the tree, the layers of the trunk (outer bark, phloem, cambium, xylem, and heartwood), the soil, roots and leaves in an interactive foldable tree project. As students read the informational passages included, they write about each part, layer and function on the tree templates (black and white and coloured templates included).
When all the layers are completed, the flaps are glued down to create an interactive 3D dissection of a tree. Each piece will fold back to reveal the next layer of the tree and trunk layer underneath. This is a fabulous way for students to see the inner workings of the tree that they create!
Students also create a sculpture of the anatomy of a leaf as they learn about how the amazing process of photosynthesis works!
