This 33-page science mini-book was created to help teach the Next Generation Science Standards for 3rd grade in Earth's Systems (3-ESS2) & Earth and Human Activity (3-ESS3).
It covers the following principles: what is weather, what is a climate, what is a meteorologist, what do meteorologists do, types of weather tools, forecasting, weather symbols, natural hazards, natural disasters, disaster preparedness, safety kits, emergency plans, what would you do, design a solution, etc.
I made sure to cover everything required in the NGSS for this topic and tried my best to make the material 3rd grade friendly!
Worksheets in the booklet allow students to: match weather tools to the types of weather they measure, observe weather patterns to create a pretend and real 4-day forecasts, write about weather symbols, match weather to climates, write about the local climate where they live, design a solution to a weather-related problem, write/draw about a disaster safety kit for their home, identify appropriate items for a safety kit, write what they would do to prepare in various natural disaster scenarios, and create a family emergency plan. A science glossary of important terms is also included.
This document is in a half-page format (two to a page) to save paper and make copying class sets quicker and easier. Enjoy! =)
