I created this 48-page science mini-book to help teach students about the basics of the human body. It is appropriate for the intermediate grades, but could also be used with high 2nd graders.
This mini-book covers the following topics: what is the body made of, what is anatomy, the 5 senses, body systems, skeletal system, muscular system, circulatory system, digestive system, nervous system, respiratory system, endocrine system, urinary system, lymphatic system, the organs, the skin, the brain, the heart, the eye, the lungs, the kidneys, the bladder, the spleen, the stomach, the small intestine, the liver, the gallbladder, the pancreas, the large intestine, and interesting body facts.
Worksheets in the booklet allow students to: color-code the 5 senses, color-code the body systems, cut & paste, sort vital vs. other organs, match organs with names, sketch the digestive system, and write their own interesting body facts. I've also included 2 writing pages with prompts and 2 "draw what you know" pages.
At the end are 3 optional activity pages: listen, think, write (for read-alouds) and read, think, write (for independent reading) in half-page and full-page formats, as well as a blank "draw the body system" worksheet in half-page and full-page size for you to use as you wish. They would make great learning displays or flipbooks.
A science glossary of important terms + partial answer key is also included.
This document is in a half-page format (two to a page) to save paper and make copying class sets quicker and easier. This smaller format also allows pages to be glued into interactive notebooks. Enjoy! =)
