This is a set of activities for elementary students about the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics! There are activities at varying levels of difficulty so it can suit a wide range of grade levels!
The first activity is an athlete profile. The athlete profile is filled out by the student as if he/she is an athlete in the Sochi Olympics. The students answers some questions about their country and about the event that they are "competing" in and also draw a picture of themselves competing. Along with this, I have added an informational sheet about the United States and the Olympics that each student could read to find the answers on the athlete profile sheet. The teacher could also read the United States Olympic information to the whole class while students fill out the athlete profile. This is a great listening and writing activity!
The second activity is a memory game with pictures and names of the 15 events that the U.S. Olympic Team will be competing in during the 2014 Sochi Olympics. Your students will love looking at real pictures of each event!
The third activity is a bar graph sheet where students record the number of medals that the U.S. team earns during the Sochi Olympics. This can be recorded throughout the Olympics or at the end!
The fourth activity is a cut, sort, and paste activity. Students cut out pictures of real Winter Olympic events and either glue them under the category, "Competes on Ice" or under the category, "Competes on Snow".
I hope you enjoy these activities! Please let me know if you have any suggestions or questions! Thank you!
