I created this 46-page science mini-book to help teach students about the solar system. It is appropriate for the intermediate grades, but could also be used with high 2nd graders.
This mini-book covers the following principles: what is the solar system, how was the solar system created, the sun, the moon, the inner planets, the outer planets, Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, What About Pluto?, the dwarf planets, asteroids/comets/meteoroids, what is a star, what is a galaxy, what is the universe, what is astronomy, space exploration, space technology, astronauts, spacesuits, are aliens real?, and interesting space facts.
Worksheets in the booklet allow students to: cut & paste, sort the inner/outer planets, color-code the planets in the solar system, list the pros/cons of being an astronaut, label a spacesuit, color space objects, and match space technology, as well as 1 "write your own space facts" page, 3 writing pages/prompts about space, and 2 "draw what you know" pages.
I've also included 2 optional activity pages: listen, think, write (for read-alouds) and read, think, write (for independent reading) in half-page and full-page formats.
A science glossary of important terms + partial answer key is also included.
This document is in a half-page format (two to a page) to save paper and make copying class sets quicker and easier. This smaller format also allows pages to be glued into interactive notebooks. Enjoy! =)
