This resource will enable teachers to start conferences with their students on day one. Right from the start using conversations to build relationships within their classroom. Taking questions from reading interest surveys that I have asked students to complete independently in the past, and putting them on an easy to use form to make your first conference count. Space is available for notes as well as a spot for book recommendations should they pop into your head while conferencing with you students. Helps to establish the routine of conferences in an easy way that opens students up and helps teachers connect quickly. Parent homework is also included in which parents complete an essay to show teachers their child through their eyes. Valuable insight that enables teachers to build relationships and lessons that meet the needs of all learners. I use this conference form during the first 15 minutes of class while students are independently reading. It takes about a week to get through a class of 28 using only the first 15 minutes of class. Conferences ranged between 3-5 minutes per student. Check out my blog for more ideas: JoyfullyLiterate.com
