***Must have PowerPoint to view the Presentation***
The lesson begins with a full PowerPoint that includes 4 slides per continent. It shows where the continent is on a world map, the continent with it's countries (if applicable), question slides, and a map of the continent with famous landmarks, people showing culture, etc.
Students then split into groups according to continent. They then color and locate on a map where different landmarks, animals, etc. are found on their continent. We look over map as a class and make any adjustments necessary.
Then as a quick assessment the class plays a game of Headbandz, where they put a card in a headband on their head and ask other students yes or no questions about where they may be in the world.
The lesson also includes teaching directions, game instructions, and pictures to show visuals.
It is a great lesson! Genuine testing of student's knowledge of content, and of course a complete blast. Engaging the entire way through. This lesson could also be split into the course of a few lessons if desired.
See how it went in my classroom on my blog!
