I hand lettered and adapted this chart for clarity. Being only one page, it de-mystifies English spellings and phonetics: anyone can "get" one page!
You can have your students color code it, cut it up for re-assembly, or categorize words using parts of it or all. You can enlarge it or project it to draw attention to a word's characteristics. You can create relay races or other activities to reinforce the spelling patterns of English.
It might help to explain to your students that English has twice the words of any other language, probably because England is an island that has been occupied many times over the centuries by other people of different languages. What a wonderfully expressive and diverse language!
