Research has shown that discussing and reflecting upon learning targets is more beneficial to students than traditional homework worksheets.
We have created a P.A.C.T. standing for Practicing And Communicating Targets. The purpose of the PACT is each and every night students are to write their learning targets at school for each subject area and then discuss and write a reflection about what they learned that day. (It also helps hold teachers accountable for ensuring they have a learning target for each content area!) It stresses communication and conversation with parents, teachers, and students. In addition to the learning target reflection, there is some kind of activity to complete each night. Everything from a "Doodle Page," to discussing PE, Art, and Music, a "You Pick Night," making goals, "Two Stars and a Wish," and other content activities.
We started the PACT the first quarter of the school year and we wanted to wait to post it until we received feedback from students and parents. Thus far, the feedback we have received has been incredibly positive from everyone from parents, to students, to our administration.
I attached the Word Document version so you can change what you want to. However, if formatting is all off, please contact us with your email address and I'll upload the PDF file.
Thank you for your support! Start enjoying meaningful homework again, and having homework complete for an entire quarter!
