Students practice the distributive property in a fun, self-checking scavenger hunt format! Instead of just sitting at their seats doing a worksheet, they can be up moving around the room!
Post the pages around your room in a random order. The students may start on any letter they choose. They first solve the problem on the top of the page. Then, they are to find the answer to their problem on the bottom of another page. They then solve the problem on the top of that page. They continue around the room until they return to the first page where they started their scavenger hunt.
This scavenger hunt contains ONLY POSITIVE NUMBERS - NO NEGATIVES. It does contain a few friendly fractions and decimals, but the majority of the problems are positive whole numbers.
Starting with the “B" page the slides spell BICHROMATES when solved in the correct order. I find that this method makes it very easy to quickly see where/if a student has made a mistake when I am checking and/or helping.
