These packs contain All Quiet on the Western Front lesson plans that are prepared for immediate classroom reproduction and use. This plan of over 80 pages is a great way to help you guide your students through Remarque's novel. A more in-depth description of each pack can be found below:
ALL QUIET ON THE WESTERN FRONT ACTIVITY PACK: The activity pack contains reproducible handouts that will help guide teachers in reviewing literary elements as their students read the novel. The activity pack reviews literary elements such as figurative language (similes, metaphors, and personification), characterization, and imagery. The worksheets all tie into the novel and are ready to copy and distribute to students. These handouts are great to help students discover and review the literary elements hidden within All Quiet on the Western Front.
ALL QUIET ON THE WESTERN FRONT VOCABULARY PACK: The vocabulary activity pack contains chapter handouts that utilize context clues to help students learn difficult words. There is one reproducible, a multiple-choice handout, for every chapter. The worksheets are ready to copy and distribute to students. A teacher answer key is included. These context clues handouts are great to help students preview and learn new vocabulary words before they start reading each chapter. It is sure to be useful in any classroom looking at the words of All Quiet on the Western Front.
ALL QUIET ON THE WESTERN FRONT MULTIPLE CHOICE CHAPTER QUIZZES PACK: This quiz pack contains one quiz for every two chapters. Each quiz is composed of seven multiple choice questions. A teacher answer key for each quiz is included. The quizzes are ready to print, copy, and distribute to students immediately.
ALL QUIET ON THE WESTERN FRONT JOURNAL PACK: This journal pack contains reproducible handouts that will help students connect with the reading as they complete the novel. The journal pack includes one handout for each chapter. Each handout contains two writing prompts that students get to choose from. Each writing prompt connects to something from the prompt's given chapter. The worksheets, which are ready to copy and distribute, give students much writing room on which they can write their response. These handouts are an excellent way to help students better connect to All Quiet on the Western Front. They also pave the way for group or classroom discussions. If you prefer to avoid using handouts, the prompts have also been formatted on pages that can be printed on overhead projector transparencies for easy overhead use (these pages can be found at the end of the journal pack).
ALL QUIET ON THE WESTERN FRONT GRAMMAR & ENGLISH LANGUAGE CONVENTIONS PACK: This unique pack reviews English language conventions and grammar by using parts of the novel. It is composed of ready-to- use student handouts and separate teacher answer keys. Each handout is composed of an exercise that covers a certain topic. Topics include parts of speech (subject, predicate, and prepositions), and correct punctuation usage (comma usage, and semi-colons/colons usage). The many exercises in this plan use actual excerpts from the novel. For instance, excerpts in which Remarque uses semi-colons/colons were used to create an exercise that reviews semi-colon/colon usage. By utilizing actual excerpts, this plan helps to make the tedious task of teaching English language conventions more relevant and meaningful to students. Additionally, the handouts are divided by chapter. For every two chapters there is a handout that reviews a grammar/English language conventions element (e.g. the first handout reviews subjects/predicates as they were used in chp. 1-2, the second handout reviews sentence classification as demonstrated in chp. 3-4, and so on).
ALL QUIET ON THE WESTERN FRONT MOVIE PACK: This pack is designed to go hand-in-hand with the movie version of Remarque's All Quiet on the Western Front. It is composed of a few reproducibles that are to be used as you watch the movie and/or when the movie has been viewed. Included are a basic movie/book comparison chart, a movie critique handout, and a symbol chart (the symbol chart is also part of the activity pack). The movie activities make for easy lesson-plans. They also work great as substitute emergency lesson-plans when paired with the movie.
