This product starts out with detailed notes on the different type of conflicts. First, students distinguish between internal and external conflicts. Then, they take notes on the four types of conflicts.
I have included videos from high-interest movies to demonstrate each type of conflict.
The PowerPoint moves on to describing elements of setting. Students write about a favorite place which leads to a discussion on setting.
Students move into predicting what "All Summer in a Day" by Ray Bradbury will be about based on pictures of the setting.
I've included vocabulary from the story that students must use context clues to define (context and instructions included in the powerpoint).
Finally, students apply their knowledge of conflict and setting by doing specific activities during a close read of the text.
