During reading or after reading the short story All Summer in a Day by Ray Bradbury, have your students look for examples of figurative language to sort on the Figurative Language Chart, such as metaphors, similes, and personification. Students can write them down on the graphic organizer. Goes along well with my PowerPoint on All Summer in a Day, but can be used without it. I've included a chart filled in with possible answers for class discussion.
