"ALL TOGETHER NOW"
This is the perfect song for use as a transition piece between center-work and community time. It would also be a terrific 'brain break' to get your students up and moving. Get the oxygen flowing as feet are stomping and hands are clapping. Cross the mid-line with swinging and swaying. The song's quick pace creates an inviting back drop for singing and moving to the beat. The chorus establishes a foundation pattern and then the verses scaffold upon one another. Memory and recall are reinforced in the process. It is the jazz riffs of professional musicians that make the instrumentation so memorable.
All that and more in barely two and a half minutes. No wonder this is the favorite of all Debbie's Ditties.
Consider using this song in your shared reading format, where vocabulary is investigated and the driving beat of the song reinforces the patterns -- aiding reluctant readers in the process. There is a pdf included of the entire song's lyrics on one page -- suitable for printing for each student's reading/poetry notebook. There is also a 5 page pdf to be used as a 'teacher's guide' where the lyrics are paced at one verse per page.
Also Included is a one slide power-point version of the lyrics for ease in projection. The power point projected lyrics will aid the class in their singing/reading and or can be use for enhancing your performance of the song.
I have included a very simple overview of the 'choreography' that is implied in the song's lyrics. I promise this little 'dittie' has the power to become a class favorite. This is the perfect piece for any teacher that does NOT consider themselves to be musically capable or dance inclined, as the students will join in enthusiastically and gain confidence with each repetition.
Thank you for your continued support. I look forward to your feedback.
