This resource includes two 10-word vocabulary lists with words taken from Anthony Doerr's All the Light We Cannot See. The first word list focuses on having students infer the meaning of unknown words using morphological clues -- in this case, the prefixes ir-, im-, and in-. For both word lists, students must look up word meanings using a dictionary and produce original sentences using the words. These two assignments could be treated as in-class work and/or homework.
Also included is a fill-in-the-blank vocabulary quiz on all 20 words. Students are provided a word bank, and using their knowledge of word meanings, as well as context clues from sentences provided (all related to All the Light We Cannot See), they must determine how to fill in the blanks. Finally, I've included a teacher key for the quiz for easy grading.
