Help your students learn to recognize when they are reading an allegory by giving them this sheet with five paragraphs that have clues about events from history, famous stories, or famous people allegorized.
I have included both the honors level version and the standard level version so that you can challenge your students as you see fit.
Some of the events being allegorized are the sinking of the Titanic, Elvis, and more.
You can improve the activity by asking students to highlight the clues that revealed the correct answer.
I love this activity because it can be a good way to see if they understand allegory without having to spell it out for them.
I use this with Animal Farm and with Caesar, though they do not have to read these stories to do the activity.
