This full lesson plan shows how to play, plan, and talks about strategy for the game Alligator Ball (Gator Ball). This full lesson is mainly used for grades in middle to high school. The students seem to enjoy it and it's different from your traditional sport specific activities. The following objectives are covered in this full lesson plan:
Given an explanation and demonstration, the students will show an understanding of gross motor skills, hand-eye coordination, body awareness, personal space, general space, and manipulative skills by recalling the procedures to “Gator Ball,” according the criteria given by the teacher. Given a choral response session, the students will be able select their own team members for strategic planning in “Gator Ball” events by recognizing the individual characteristics each class member has to offer according to the teacher’s instructions.
Given a practice session, the students will demonstrate gross motor skills, hand-eye coordination, body awareness, personal space, general space, manipulative skills, by performing the “Gator Ball” activities according to all of the criteria correctly.
Given a closure session, the students will show an understanding of socially acceptable behavior and sportsmanship by valuing their team members participation in the game of “Gator Ball,” events according to class protocols.
