Product Description
These three poetry activities help students learn the sound devices alliteration and onomatopoeia. Students actively interact with the poems "Full Fathom Five" by William Shakespeare, "Onomatopoeia," by Eve Merriam, and "Maesto" by Pat Mora by responding in writing with subjects from their own lives.

Each lesson includes step-by-step brainstorming prompts to help students write poems or responses of their own, incorporating the writing techniques alliteration and onomatopoeia.

These activities can be used in the classroom for quick written responses if left in rough draft form or can be taken to the publishing step. In addition, they are perfect for all ability levels and can be jumping-off prompts for longer writing assignments.
