PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Poe was an amazingly well-read man, and his use of classical allusions makes comprehension of his work a challenge for the average student reader. This product takes students through three exercises to help them make connections and apply their knowledge.

*The first exercise requires students to research four pivotal allusions and theorize about Poe’s intent in using them. An accompanying teacher guide offers several interpretations and tips for instruction.

*The second exercise provides a mini lesson on question construction and guides students through the creation of one multiple-choice question. A model is provided.

*The third exercise is the construction of an analysis paragraph connecting allusion to mood or theme. An accompanying teacher guide offers instruction tips.
