Fahrenheit 451 is full of literary, historical and biblical allusions. Understanding the purpose of these allusions in the novel will dramatically increase your students understanding of Bradbury's ultimate theme.
This product includes a packet which asks your students to analyze 12 allusions in Part II of Fahrenheit 451, "The Sieve & the Sand." Your students will be asked to interpret the literal meaning of all of the allusions, as well as connect the literal meaning of the allusion to specific events in Fahrenheit 451. Additionally, students will be asked to use critical thinking skills to make inferences about Bradbury's literary use of the allusions in his novel, as well as make conclusions about the characters' motivation for using the allusions throughout the novel. Also included in this product is a PowerPoint Presentation, which provides the answers to all of the questions, for you to review with your students when they have completed the activity.
This product is an excellent way to help your student's analyze author's craft and use of literary devices while you are reading the novel.
