Product Description
This is a worksheet that includes Edgar Allen Poe's poem "Alone," along with four discussion questions. Students are also asked to mark the rhyme scheme of the poem.

After reading the poem and marking the rhyme scheme, students are asked the following questions:
-Why do you think Poe described his loneliness as "a demon in his view"?
-Name two pieces of specific evidence from the poem that show Poe was not like other children when he was growing up
-Describe the overall mood of this poem
-Did you like this poem? Why or why not?

I used this poem to introduce my students to couplet rhyme scheme, as well as the work of Edgar Allen Poe. Interestingly, this sparked some of my students to take an interest in Poe's work. One year, I had to spend a class period teaching "The Raven" because students were so into Poe! :)

Thanks for looking! I hope you find this useful.
