I love using the Alpha Tales series when I am teaching about letters. The students are more engaged during Interactive Read Alouds. This digital activity was designed to use as you read each individual book. Start by introducing the different pictures of things that begin with the Focus Letter. Have the students listen for each item in the picture as you are reading. When a student hears the word that matches the picture then the students can come to the Interactive Whiteboard or AppleTV and move the image over to the Puzzle of the Letter. By the end of the book, every Puzzle Piece of the letter should be completed. If not, go back to find out the part that you were missing in the story. The pictures match the book. Some of the pictures come from the story text and/or the Alphabet Cheer at the end of the book.
These activities were designed to provide teachers with a digital, interactive activity that aligns with NAEYC and Common Core standards (NAEYC 2.E.07; CCSS RF.K.1-3; CCSS RF.1.3). The activities can be completed on any device with Google Drive. Many school are encouraging teachers to use more technology with students so this is another resource that helps you move into a paperless direction. Further, the proper use of technology encourages 21st century thinking skills and increases student’s engagement. Specially, the purpose of this product is to help young learners develop or review letters and sounds. These resources are easily integrated with any curriculum.
