Spice up your vocabulary instruction with this motivating activity! Inspired by a video clip of Daniel Radcliffe rapping “Alphabet Aerobics,” this product includes *184* vocabulary words for older students.
What vocabulary words are included? Mostly Tier II words (with some use of other high frequency academic vocabulary).
Eight words are included for each letter of the alphabet, with the following exceptions:
J - 4 words, K - 4 words, Q - 4 words, R - 12 words, S - 16 words, W - 4 words, X - 0 words, Y - 2 words, Z - 2 words
-Print out the “Alphabet Aerobics” booklet.
-Cut out the section below the line on each page. (Cut everything except for the letter – this will serve as a tab for the booklet.)
-Put the pages in order and staple them together or hole punch and fasten with rings.
-Use the link on the next page to watch the 1st video with your students.
*If your students are up for the challenge, see if they can rap the words
to the instrumental version (it won’t match up perfectly, but that’s where creativity comes into play!)
-Print out the vocabulary worksheet and have students select a word to focus on. (Students can fill out the worksheet once or multiple times using different words depending on your class setting, how often you see the students, and how far you want the activity to span).
-Review the completed worksheet together.
-As an extension activity, print out the blank booklet and have students come up with their own words.
