Product Description
The alphabet autobiography is a fun, engaging project that allows you to get to know your students, determine their current level of writing ability, and teach a variety of concepts: Types of paragraphs, paragraph structure, topic sentences, supporting details, concluding sentences, word choice, and conventions. This product works very well as a beginning of the year activity, as an end of the year activity, a project you can give to reinforce instruction regarding single paragraph structure. I have learned so much about each of my students each time I have done this project. I usually buy cardstock, hole punch it, and use yarn to create the books. Students often go to the shelf to look at each other's alphabet autobiographies. I have presented this project at the Morehead Writing Project and teachers throughout Eastern Kentucky have found this project extremely useful! -- Vickie Moriarity
