Each year in my kindergarten class we make an alphabet book. Each week we make one page in the book to go along with the letter of focus. These pages are kept in a binder for each student until the end of the year and then students take them home as a kindergarten keepsake.
First I play a guessing game with the class and students guess what we could possibly glue on to the letter that begins with that letter's sound. Then the surprise object is either guessed or revealed. Then students first write their name on the back, trace the practice letters provided, write their own on the blank line, and then glue on the object that begins with letter.
