This Pocket Chart Sound Cards Kit (Beginning to Advanced), from Lil' Reading Scientists Literacy Solutions TM, is a fantastic tool for demonstrating word building, phoneme sequencing, and sound blending with all 6 syllable types!
Teachers demonstrate the process of word building to the class, utilizing the post card -sized, color-coded alphabet and letter cluster cards. New concepts and skills can be introduced in a small or a large group setting. This Kit covers the Lil' Reading Scientists' Levels 2-16 Scope and Sequence, but can be used with any ELA curriculum.
Included in this Kit are cards for the alphabet letters A-Z, twin letters (ll, ss, ff), digraphs, chunks (ex: ang, ink), long vowels, silent e, double vowels, bossy r, soft sounds of c and g, miscellaneous skills, the Magic E Syllable Type Marker Card, the vowel marker cards, and the rules for syllable division. Also included in this Kit is the Lil' Reading Scientists' Hand Card, to cover one syllable while decoding another syllable, in multisyllabic words).
Students can also work with the cards on the pocket chart, to demonstrate their understanding of the skills being taught. Alternatively, students can use the Lil' Reading Scientists' Word Building Boards # 1 & 2 at their desks, to participate in word building activities in a small group or whole class setting.
There are four cards to a page, so teachers can have enough of each letter/letter cluster to make longer words. These cards can be printed out on post card printer paper, for easy prep and perforation.
