This deck was designed with accessibility in mind: the colors comply with ADA 508 and WCAG 2.1 AA and AAA requirements. The font used is Arial Bold, a sans serif typeface.
In 2012, I originally designed four-color (orange/green/blue/red) flash cards for my baby granddaughter. The black on red in her deck is not WCAG 2.1 compliant, but she had no disability in reading the letters on the red background so it was all good. A year or so later, my son asked me to print out three more decks of the alphabet flash cards so that he could use them to play a form of Memory (the card game like Concentration - you know what I mean if you're familiar with that TV show). I supplied him with the 3 extra decks, and he and the little one enjoyed playing with them for a long time.
THIS DECK is black on teal, not a dark teal that would make reading the black lettering difficult nor a pastel teal, but a teal in the middle shade. It happens to be one of my favorite shades of teal, a color to which I was introduced as a child in the Crayola crayon set as "Blue Green". As many people as I know who consider this color their favorite color, I cannot help but think that it might be considered a favorite color of many children today, and therefore might prove useful in helping students learn to read and memorize their alphabet by holding their attention with a favorite color.
I recommend printing this deck in color on white index, letterhead size (8.5" x 11"), cutting and then laminating.
This deck is also part of the 5-deck collection of alphabet flash cards.
