Handwriting is SO important in the primary grades. In Kindergarten, students are learning the proper formation of upper and lowercase letters. In first and second, it is important that students review proper letter formation at the beginning of the year so that as their abilities to write longer stories grow, they can write legibly and quickly.
This alphabet book gives students a place to practice and review proper formation of each letter (upper and lowercase) as well as a space to draw an object (or a person!) that begins with each letter.
You can use this as an independent activity during beginning of the year testing, a center, or as independent practice for direct handwriting lessons! Print each page individually as worksheets, or use the 2 staple feature on your copier to make books for each student.
Once students finish their alphabet book, they can keep it in their book bin or their desk as a resource for writing!
P.S. The .zip file includes the full book as a .pdf, as well as the cover as a .docx so that you can edit the "First Grade, September 2014" words to fit your class!
