PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

This little alphabet jigsaw consists of 26 banners (1 for each letter). There are 3 different versions:
✿ with words
✿ without words
✿ a black and white version for easy printing and coloring activities

What you need:

printer
scissors
laminator plus pouches (optional)

How to prepare:

1. Print out the jigsaws (and laminate them for longevity).
2. Cut out the banners and along the dotted lines in order to make jigsaw pieces.

How to use:

There are different ways you can use this jigsaw.
To start with, use the first set and have the children recognize the words and match them with the letter given at the beginning of the banner.
Then you can add the second version without the words.

It is also a good listening activity. The teacher calls out the words and the children have to find the correct beginning letter.

There are a number of games you can play with this. For example ...

Mix all the picture cards (well, probably not ALL, but depending on the age a few ;). Place them somewhere in the room. Have the children stand next to you. Call a letter and the children run to the pile with the pictures to find the corresponding picture cards. They are allowed to take one card at a time only. Once they found a picture cards, they run back, give it to you and run back for more. The child with the most cards at the end wins the game.

This game can be played reversed as well. Put all the letters on one pile and show a picture without saying the word of the picture and have the children find the corresponding letter.

Another game - depending on your class size - give each student a jigsaw part (one child gets the letter, 3 children get the pictures). So let's say you have 20 kids, you can play the game with 5 letter jigsaws. Have them all mingle and dance around the room until you give a signal. As soon as the children see or hear it, they stop and come together in groups that match their letters (so you would have 5 groups with 4 children). The group that comes together last is out. Distribute new cards to the remaining groups and play again.

As for the b&w version, you can use it as coloring activity with the children. My kids love it, when they can make their own materials that we will use in class later.
