FREEBIE: Three books are included in this sample (Aa, Bb, and Cc). Each book provides students with an opportunity to practice letter formation, letter identification (activities vary per book), discern which pictures begin with the appropriate sound for the book they are making, and draw their own picture of an object that begins with the correct sound. Students will need scissors, glue, and crayons or markers to complete their books.
On the front of the book:
-On the first flap, students write their name on the blank and color in the letter.
-Students trace the letter on the second and third flap.
-Students practice writing the upper and lowercase letter on the last flap, on their own.
On the inside of the book:
-Under the first flap, students complete the letter identification activity as directed.
-Students glue the pictures that begin with the appropriate letter sound under the second and third flap. Students can color the pictures before or after gluing.
-Students draw their own picture that begins with the appropriate letter sound under the last flap.
How to assemble:
-Each book has two pages that will need to be copied back to back after you print the pdf file. If your copy machine has the option to do 1 sided and 1 sided to 2 sided, this is an easy way to get the books copied correctly.
-Students will need to cut along the dotted lines and then fold the book along the solid line. (I find it easier for some of my students to cut off the strip of pictures on the right side, then fold the book along the solid line, and open it back up before cutting the individual flaps.)
-Students will need to determine which pictures begin with correct sound for book they are making. Each book contains one picture that does not belong, which can be discarded once students have identified the appropriate pictures.
