The Alphabet Linking Program is perfect for anyone needing a multi-sensory way to help struggling learners connect the letter sounds with the letter shape. Let’s face it, learning the letter sounds and names and matching them to the letter shape is an exercise in memorization. Many of our struggling readers have a hard time with memorizing. We need to teach this skill in a way that makes sense to them and helps them remember what they are learning.
Based on current research, The Alphabet Linking Program embeds visual mnemonics into the letter shape so that children can see the letter as something that makes sense to them. For example, the letter ‘s’ has always been easy for children to learn because it looks like a snake and when we say the word ‘snake’ we hear the s sound. Children link the sound with the shape of the letter.
Teacher’s Guide: Contains research-based information about the importance of using mnemonics to help children remember what they hear and see. It describes how to use the Alphabet Linking Chart, Alphabet Teaching Cards and Alphabet Mnemonic Chart in a small group setting. It provides information on assessment and the order in which you could teach the letters. It culminates with teaching instructions and scripts for using this program.
Letter Assessment Data Sheet & Student Sheet: After you've used the Alphabet Linking Program, use the assessment sheet to determine which letter sounds your students have mastered.
In this resource, you will ONLY have the Teacher's Guide & Assessment/Data Sheets
